Medallion renews NCQA certification at 8x scale for credentialing volume (September 2026)

At a glance

- Credentialing file volume scaled more than 8x from 24,739 files in 2024 to 204,000+ already in 2026
- Next NCQA survey: May 2029
- Status and survey history are publicly verifiable on NCQA's Report Cards
Medallion renewed its NCQA Credentialing Certification.
A renewal like that is usually where the story ends. It's noted internally, then filed away. It didn't end there this time, because Medallion did it while scaling credentialing file volume more than 8x over the same period, from 24,739 files in 2024 to over 204,000 in 2026 so far.
8x volume, same reliable credentialing standards
Over the prior 18 months, Medallion's credentialing team rebuilt its program and policies from the ground up, rewriting documentation standards, running mock reviews, and annotating files one by one. At the same time, the team onboarded large customers and absorbed the volume that came with them.
| Year | Files processed |
|---|---|
| 2024 | 24,739 |
| 2025 | 152,382 |
| 2026 (through August, 4 months left) | 204,000+ |
Medallion's credentialing file volume grew roughly 8x from 2024 to 2026 and has already surpassed last year's full-year total with a third of the year still ahead. Rebuilding a compliance program is hard on its own. Doing it while the underlying business grows eightfold is the harder version of the same challenge, and the one many organizations might never attempt at all.
Why this matters if you're evaluating a credentialing partner
Any NCQA-certified partner can show you the same badge. What the badge alone doesn't show:
- Whether the process was tested under real growth pressure, or maintained at a steady, comfortable volume.
- Whether it holds once new customers, new payer requirements, and real scale show up together.
- Whether the standard held across a single cycle, or consistently over time.
That's the harder bar, and it's closer to what most healthcare organizations need from a partner as they grow into it themselves.

NCQA certification isn't a one-and-done thing
Medallion's next NCQA survey is scheduled for May 2029. Our credentialing team is already identifying where more of the manual file work can be supported by better tooling ahead of that review, with our specialists still reviewing every output.
If you want to talk through what's underneath this renewal, or how the program holds up as your organization scales, Medallion's team is glad to walk through it.
FAQ about NCQA Credentialing Certification
What is NCQA Credentialing Certification, and why does it matter for a credentialing partner?
NCQA Credentialing Certification is the NCQA program that evaluates an organization's credentialing operations, covering practitioner qualifications, sanctions monitoring, and primary source verification, against defined standards. For a healthcare organization choosing a credentialing partner, it's one of the clearest third-party signals available that the partner's process holds up to outside review.
How often does NCQA Credentialing Certification need to be renewed?
NCQA Credentialing Certification typically operates on a multi-year survey cycle; Medallion's next survey is scheduled for May 2029.
How does Medallion support file quality while credentialing file volume grows?
Credentialing specialists handle hands-on file annotation and ongoing internal QA (quality assurance), and automation-powered platform improvements, like credentialing packet generation and reporting, supports that work.
